win win

My new suit enjoyed its first swim. The fabric you can buy by the yard doesn't last forever. It gets a longer life in my pool than in one treated by chlorine (mine is treated with bromine - the stuff they use for hot tubs), but still. Even lined, it will stretch out in about six months and start to droop in about 9 or so. But the first month is the best. It's all taut and shiny. Fun.

And my breakfast casserole was yummy. 1 min in the microwave and it was very tasty. I may need to make the portions bigger next time.

The skies look more clear today and the Breezo meter says they are. Not great but better.

Today's the Buy Mariner Ticket day. I keep getting emails saying that I will get an email with instructions. But no instructions yet. I went back and looked at the original one and it says that The Thursday morning ticket sale will start at 12 pm. I do not even feel stupid for reading that as 12 am. 12 pm is not morning!!

So now I wait. More.

At 2 pm today, I'm being visited by two University of Washington students. Here's their pitch:

A design research team at the University of Washington is looking for participants to be part of a study about IoT devices and data in the home. We want to understand how people find, read, and make sense of their data. We are looking for people who live with and use at least one (preferably more) connected devices.

The study will require participants to: - live in the Seattle, WA area - meet with two researchers at their home for 1 hour - give permission to have photos taken of their devices and data - engage in a short (10-20 minutes) fun take-home activity

The purpose of this study is to understand how people currently find, read, and make sense of IoT data in their home. Your participation will help inform future designs for interacting with data and smart technologies.

All participants will be anonymized and receive a $20 Amazon gift card in appreciation of your contribution.

It promises to be interesting. The woman who set up the appointment via email seems pretty sharp. She suggested 2 today and I responded that there could be a problem since the Seahawks were playing at home game at 5:30. I was probably way more impressed than I should have been when she popped back quickly that they would be arriving on bike or by train so no biggie. Classy.

Also yesterday I got an invitation to do user testing at Big Fish Games. They had not contacted me for more than a year and I assumed that we had broken up. They also moved their offices to a building close enough for me to walk so I was kind of sad that they ghosted me. They pay nicely $100/$150 and while I really don't like any of their games, their testing is always interesting. But, alas, they were looking for testers on Monday/Tuesday and I haven't heard back yet. So probably not this time. At least they still have my name in their hopper.

I have some tidying up to do around the house and I need to make more socks. Big day ahead!
