At 4:30 I was starving and in no mood to heat up the house or make a mess. So I grabbed my phone and some cash and took myself out to early happy hour dinner. I went across the street and up a half block to a place that opened late last year and somehow I had never investigated. Taylors Shellfish. It's an open, airy place with pleasing music at a volume you could enjoy and also eavesdrop on conversations if you like. I had an oyster po boy. I ate it at a roomy, comfortable table with a great view of both the restaurant and the passersby outside.
It was just perfect. I took a little bit o a circuitous route home. It's a lovely evening and a wonderful treat. I may have to make Taylor's Shellfish a weekly-ish treat.
It's a wonderful perk of living in the downtown core and why I love it.
