Last Summer, I filed an amended tax return to collect on a deduction I had forgotten the first time through. I'e been tracking it on the IRS website. They got it the first week in August but it never got to the processing stage. Today's website message says 'call us'. UGH.

So that's on the agenda... And swimming and my new Kindle is Out for Delivery!

Yesterday interactions with neighbors, in the hallways and in the home owners meeting had me thinking hard last night about how I react to people and how far out of sync I am with the people around me. One of the board members - one I really admire for her hard work and smarts - was singing the praises of the new Halloween plan for the building. Then she added "Plus, it will give us a good chance to get to know our neighbors on a casual basis."

And she said this like it was a good thing. To me it has the same enticement as something like "Plus, then we can all get root canals! Without novocaine!!!

I do appreciate getting to know what's happening with my investment (in this building). I like knowing our budget is in good shape and that the guy running an Air B&B out of his unit is finally being made to pay for his crime (soooo against the rules) and that our chimney's will be cleaned here in November and all the other day to day stuff that goes on around here that I am not a part of.

I could probably get that if I were casual or good friends with my neighbors but I'd rather skip that part and sit through a monthly meeting.

I do love seeing and chatting with friends of my choosing.

I think my discomfort is the forced nature of proximital friends. I want the freedom to come and go to and from my house without having to make nice to people I don't want to.

And I don't have to. One of the perks of living a life totally alone is that you get to make your own rules, leave the remote where you want, eat what and when you want and be a rude, mean, neighbor. I'm going to try and start enjoying my perk rather than beating myself up for it.
