pool scores

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, before the pool opens for us at 6:30, there is a high school swim team practicing.  Today when I got there, practice was over and, apparently, the girls were getting rewarded by getting to use the rope swing.  There's a big fat rope with knots in it that swings out over the deep end.  Since I'm only there for lap swims, I've rarely seen it really used and only by little kids.  The swim team girls were having a ball swinging and splashing and squealing.

As their coach was saying 'Last One', some of the age 30+ lap swimmers lined up behind the swim team girl who was last.  And they got a turn.  Those of us on the sidelines turned into cheer leaders.  They were much better than the girls.  They tried to outdo one another with flips and turns.  It was hilarious - partly because of the spontaneity and the adults as kids factor and, I think, because you just so seldom find yourself in a group cheering and giggling with strangers at 6:30 am.

But the big news is the pool closure.  They are working on the roof and they have a sign up saying they would try to keep any closure to a minimum while the work was going on.  So far they haven't had to close.  And then the sign was up this morning.  They will be closing bits of Saturday, Sunday and Monday and are going to try and be done Monday night.

BUT, none of the closures are for the times I swim!!  My times will all be open as usual.  Even Monday.  They are going to open for early morning swim and then close for the rest of the day.  Unless something happens, I'll skirt this thing 100%!

I've got nothing on the agenda for today outside of the usual.  They haven't come to suck out my dryer vent yet so I'm kind of on tap for that.  I think I'm going to scramble some eggs for breakfast.
