At noon on M/W/F's there is a shallow end exercise class that is very popular. The attendees are generally large, mostly black women all of whom have been taking the class together for a long time. About half the class comes via the special bus that stops at assisted living centers so they get there really early and use the pre-class time to catch up on recipes, ailments, church news and everything else.
When I swim at late morning, they are all in the locker room when I finish up. They all ask me how I am, what's the water temp today (and the correct answer is warm) and generally fold me into their large, welcoming group. One day I fixed a woman's flip phone (the battery wasn't set in well) and now I am their tech advisor.
They are a hail and hearty group and fun to spend a few minutes with. My early morning swims are great but I've missed the ladies. I'll catch up with them today.
Plus, while getting caught up online this morning, my nose started to bleed and it went on for a while. I haven't had a nose bleed in months and months. I used to get them in winter but skated by without one last winter. I guess today was making up for loss time. It seems ok now. And I have more than a couple of hours before pool time so I think it's going to be fine.
