1 great, 1 unknown

We had our new Thursday instructor at the pool today - Brent - and he's a keeper.  Yeah!  It turns out that I'd seen him lifeguarding this week but I just didn't know who he was.  I got there early and was able to do a good 30 minutes of laps before class which would have been fine except Brent turned out to be such a better instructor than what we've had lately, I was beat to a pulp by the end of his class!

But, I did get in some good licks on the new workout I found. I'm trying to teach myself 1. how to make sure my 'core' stays engaged and 2. how to breathe turning up to the left and turning up to the right. I got the right side down but I want to learn how to use both ambi-breathing is what I call it.  One of the tips I picked up on the web was to flutter kick with a board but do it with your head in the water and breathe right and left.  It helped enormously but it's going to be a while before I have it cold.

When I was growing up, before Title 9, we didn't have cores. I never knew I had one until about 5 years ago.  I still don't know how to work it properly but I have figured out what doing it wrong looks like.  Now I just need to get a handle on what it feels like since watching/judging the guy I'm sharing a lane with ain't doing much for my six pack!

Lunch is done and now I'm going to empty the dishwasher and then do some bear knittin' while I either listen to my audiobook or watch a podcast on TiVo.
