Another installment in the world's most expensive cat

Biggie is doing fine. Last night he spent most of the evening in the half bath on the floor. No idea why. I'm not sure he's ever even been there before. But dark confined spaces seem to be his latest jam.

When I got ready to get into bed to read, I picked him up and carried him to the bed. I placed him next to me where he usually sits while I listen to my book and play on my tablet. After a few minutes it crawled right into my lap where he stayed until lights out.

He slept next to me for a couple of hours and then left. This morning I found him in the closet on the floor. I picked him up and carried him to food. He sniffed and walked back to his closet where he is still now 3 hours later.

I just took his food into the closet and put it down next to him and he immediately started eating. He who shall be served.

I am worried about the terrace. I have to be able to keep the door open when I want to. I may need to let him out. I've been looking at various options for that but right now, I've decided that I need a screen door. I would love to have a retractable screen door. But, I think they are about 5 times more expensive than a regular one. However they do come with installers!

Getting a door at home depot and bringing it here is a bit of a challenge in a smart car. Plus maybe I could install it but do I want to? Negative.

And, yet, a retractable screen door is going to wreck havoc with my air conditioner insert, I think. Maybe not. And/or maybe there's a work around.

I've spent the last couple of hours web researching/shopping for screen door installation. I've now request quotes from three places... let the games begin!!

Yesterday mhaithaca asked me if I air fried my breakfast burritos. I'd never even thought of that. I always have nuked them and enjoyed their soft goodness. BUT, I do love crispy. So this morning, I took a burrito right from the cold fridge and popped it into the air fryer (in my case my toaster oven on air fryer setting) 400 degrees for 6 minutes. Perfect!! I think if I were going to do this a lot, I'd butter up the tortilla before I added the egg and cheese and stuff but it was pretty darned good and crispy. A nice Plan B!

I just checked on King Tut and he had eaten all but a tiny bit of his room service breakfast. I had given him a whole serving so this was the most he had eaten since surgery. I made up some more (pate watered down) and set it out for him in the living room. So far, while he's walked to his water fountain, he has not eaten anything that I have not put under his mouth. So next step is his finding/eating food. Before surgery, he ate on the kitchen counter so now finding is a thing. And finding the right height of the bowl. I have it now, perched on a box - same height as the water - in the path of the water. We shall see.

I might go to Goodwill to see if I can find a better food dish situation. Otherwize it will just be hanging here with the King.

Mole cat

Dark places. That's where Biggie's been all day. I went into his closet and spent some time rubbing him all over which he really seemed to enjoy. Then I moved him to the bed and did some more. No objection. Then I carried him into the living room and set him down in front of the food. He actually ate some. Not much but some. And then he tottled off.

He sat in the hallway for a few minutes. Then on to the litter box where he did his biz and now he's in the corner of the tiny half bath. In the dark. Again. I now have a mole cat.

He snuggles up to the wall and when he changes positions his thundersticks hit the baseboards and it sound like someone's knocking at the front door. If they knew, my neighbors would be so appreciative of my carpeting!

I have not gotten one single 'fast quote' or 'quote within an hour!' from the three screen places I sent off to this morning. But, Tanya MacDonald sent me down the rabbit hold of magnetic screens. All the Amazon write ups say the screens allow easy access for pets to come and go. So I had abandoned that plan. But, Tanya (and a couple of reviews) said that Biggie would not likely be able to go through. And, honestly, they are cheap enough to try. And about way cubed cheaper than a retractable shade.

There are a million of them so the dive was deep. I finally I settled on one that opens off to the side (as opposed to down the middle). One of the videos showed how you can add velcro tabs to reinforce the magnets in spots so what the heckster. It should be here tomorrow.

I made cookies - oatmeal with a few chocolate chips in them. I cooked a few and rolled the rest for the fridge.

I've now had a week in my fancy dancy leather recliner and I honestly like it more every day. It's big enough and small enough and easy enough to operate and comfortable. No buyer's remorse here at all.
