Soooooo much better

The pool water this morning was the best it had been in weeks. Crystal clear. It felt wonderful to swim in. But, mindful of the traffic that was piling up, I only did an hour - 1,525. Then a quick shower and on the road - a good 10 to 15 minutes earlier than usual and I was rewarded handsomely... NO backup. I had to wait a little bit longer than usual at one traffic light but that was it. I got home before the guy who parks next to me left for work at 6:15. (He's always gone when I get home. I'll bet he had a moment of Oh fuck, am I late?? What's she doing back here already???)

Nice start to a Friday.

Today is a sewing day. I have a couple of mending projects and then that new swimsuit that's ready to assemble. I might make the trek up to get the bus card fixed and check out the bakery or I might not. Otherwise, no big plans.

The pizza last night was pretty good. But, not good enough. I think I'm done with Papa Murphy's. There's a place a block over that has good pizza but it's a pain to order from. I think, next time I get a pizza jones, I'm going to endure their pain.

Ready for tomorrow

The new swimsuit is done and ready for tomorrow's swim. It strikes me as funny to have cactuses on a swimsuit but I do like the colors.

When he was here bill_schubert cut me a hole in my serger table and rigged up a catch basin so that now, the trimmings go right into the under mounted basket. Today was the first time I really used it and it's so fabulous. And so tidy. I love it.

I went out and did my errands so my tracker is happy. The line around the new bakery was not terribly long - probably 60 people but combined with the 50 or so inside, turned out to be longer than I was interested in. I can 'do' the bakery another day when the line is shorter or not there.

Now I'm home and I think it's time for some junk TV while I crochet. I think dinner is more pizza.

A nice Friday...

Oh... really...

So I was just listening to the evening news about the shut down of the viaduct and heard something interesting... I dug around on the internets and unless I'm totally misreading the maps and mock up videos...

In mid February, when they finish up the new on/off ramps to Highway 99 which will officially dissect it from the viaduct, the new ramps on the south end will mean a huge change for me.

Currently to get to the pool and back every day, I go down 1st Avenue through about 6 traffic lights and then get on a bridge that takes me to the gym and then reverse coming home. That route takes me anywhere from 12-17 minutes mostly depending on how red those traffic lights are.

The new ramps will terminate/start right at the end of my block so... I will now have a different option to get on that bridge... a freeway with zero traffic lights!

This does not make me happy about killing the viaduct and I'm still pretty much cut off from a formerly viable option to swim at the Ballard pool BUT as a consolation prize, it's not too bad!

Unless, of course, I'm totally misunderstanding the whole deal.
