In the winter, my house is heated by the condos upstairs, either side of me and the common area out my front door. However, it works the same in summer, when I'd really rather it didn't. Right now the outside thermometer says 62 while the air conditioner is working hard to cool down the inside to 74. Geesh. Opening the door to the outside while I'm trying to cool the inside down seems a bit counter intuitive but also the smart move to give the AC unit some help. Open? shut? open? shut?

Regardless, I'm thinking it's going to be an indoor day here. I'm getting close to some thoughts about a minor rearrangement of the living room to make the space seem more spacious. Also there needs to be some serious decluttering. And I have a pattern half put together on the kitchen counter. I need to get it all put together and into the sewing room.

I don't have anything that needs to be done outside the house except for maybe a walk if it stays cloudy like this. But, I can see blowing that off although a poke bowl for lunch does sound like a good idea... Cleary now I'm just killing time for no good reason. I need to get off my ass and do something. Anything. Probably getting dressed would be an excellent start.

Re swizzling

I got a fair amount of what I wanted to get done, done this morning. Then I was going to sit down and watch some TV when I got hit by an idea.

I have a furniture problem in the living room. I think I have too much of it but maybe it's just how I have it placed. My idea yesterday was that when my brother was here, I'd sit him down and make him help me rethink the current plan and execute.

But, today, I had a better idea. How about if I make some small-ish changes and live with them for two weeks, then, when he comes, he can improve OR vote to put it all back the way it was and help me do that.

So... I re-arranged. Actually all I did was swap my chair/ottoman with the sofa BUT that led to a bunch of cleanup that was long overdue. Rerouting cables and cords and, yep, found one that I have no idea what it powers. I put away a lot of stuff that was hanging around and needed to be tidied up I still have a couple of more things to put away but I'm nearly there.

My chair is hard and my sofa is soft. My back and legs were getting weary, I think, of the chair and maybe interested in the sofa for a while. Plus, the sofa offers a lot more sitting/lying options that might help the bones/muscles and general disposition of my old body.

But, the chair is also disgustingly filthy. I've tried to clean it with various products without success. It's the kind of dirty that you can't really see until you get right up in there but... when you are there, you can see it for sure. So I'm not sure what to do about that. Again, maybe my brother will have ideas.

But, I did manage to eliminate a table. So good.

We'll have to see how this works out but, I'm intrigued and sweaty. More to do. Break time is over.

Rewards for my hard work!

So... I sat here on the sofa looking at the change and it was not working for me. Then it hit me. I moved the former TV chair over and angled about 18". THEN... I remembered that that chair is modular. The table, now on the right, was on the left. And the little stick up table was in storage out on the terrace.

So I moved the table to the right and got the ladder to get to the stick up table. And... what did I find next to it???? A Bissell Spot Cleaner for rugs and upholstery!!!! I once had a cat who threw up 10 times a day. And I had a light taupe high pile carpet. It was a disaster. The spot cleaner got a lot of use. Then I got new carpet. This carpet hides everything. And, also, several years later, that cat died. And the cleaner got put far far away. Thankfully, I didn't put it away at Goodwill!

I googled and I can use regular white vinegar (of which I have plenty) for starters. Tomorrow, I'll put it to work on the orange chair. I have high hopes.

I like the arrangement now a lot. A whole lot. Zoey is totally confused.
