Thursday

The first half of today's swim was tough. I did not have enough lung power. Shades of December and January. I was starting to get worried and then the regular swimming me kicked in and was great for the next half hour. I'm thinking anomaly.

The first chore today is to clean up the mess that is the sewing room. Between the bag and the try at making a security device for the scooter, the room is a mess and I need to stop and fix it before I work on another project. And it's change sheets day, with a load of laundry.

Then I plan a walk - to the International District.

The repair people are, supposedly, due to come view my water damage this morning. Mine is one of 7 units that needs work. I don't have to be here but I think I'll wait to leave until after they have been here. I want to hear what they have to say and see if I can get an idea of a timeline to being fixed. Asking the HOA president and building manager directly hasn't netted me much of an answer. It's not a huge deal since the damage is kind of hard to see but I still want it fixed.

But, now... I need to get dressed.

Get off my lawn

If I know you, get out of my way. I just have no patience today with people I know. People, I don't know? No problem at all. But everyone else... my best advice is to hide or just pretend you don't know me and I'll go along with that scam.

For instance, I sent the building manager a note reporting that I've been having issues opening the front door remotely (from my phone). So I can't let delivery people in. Plus, I tried it myself this morning and it finally did work but only after I hit the button 5 times. Should open after 1. His response is that there are no issues as far as he knows and I'll need to come show him. My thought was 'oh so you don't believe me and/or don't think I know how to operate the system after 26 years of living here???'. I know that's a ridiculous response but today, that's how I feel. I ended up telling him to forget it. If no one else was having the problem, I'd just deal with it.

On the up side, I was here when the ceiling fix it guys came to look. Turns out they hired the guy who ran the roof project last year. He is excellent at project management, getting shit done and communicating same. So Whew. They asked good questions and I'm not going to worry about it any more.

These will be my next three swimsuits.

No hurry but they were on sale so I figured stash in the house = good thing. Right now I'm working on putting my fleece scraps together to make a jacket. So far, so good.

I did get the sewing room all cleaned up. And totally emptied the litter box and refilled it. And made a trip down to the dumpster.

Then I walked to the Japanese grocery and to the Japanese dollar store. The Garmin app will punish me tomorrow by raising the daily goal even higher.

Right now I'm desperately sleepy but if I take a nap, I won't get to sleep tonight and 4:30 tomorrow morning will be a nightmare. Maybe some knitting/tv time will perk me up.

ooops

The tire clamp/boot thingie for the scooter arrived and, contrary to what the website said, it is fucking huge. I didn't even take it out of the hard plastic shell. It's never going to work. So back it goes.

I went to print out the return label and the printer wouldn't print. I finally got up to look and it hates the black cartridge.

This is my first laser printer. Back in the ink jet days, I was always careful to buy the ink from the manufacturer. I paid way too much but I always knew if there was a problem at least they couldn't blame it on Other People's Ink.

My brother convinced me that laser printers are different and I could easily cheap out on toner. So when the black got low, I ordered some cheap stuff. It was okdokey for a couple of weeks... until tonight. Now it's basically saying Get This Thing Out OF ME!!

Happily, I'm still in the return window so back it goes. Except... how can I send it back? I can't print the label!!!

DOH! Order new. This time I went with some higher priced spread that I hope the printer will not hate. It's on Amazon with a lot of good reviews. If it does hate it, I hope it's within 30 days. It gets here tomorrow so then I can print out both labels and drop them off at the UPS store near the pool on Saturday.
