Road to recovery - finally fucking found it!

Contrary to what the pharmacist warned, I had no trouble getting to sleep. I did wake up twice with severe coughing but... my ear is WAY better, my head is almost not stuffy, and I feel energetic! I even swam fast - best pace since I started tracking the pace with my Fitbit. Watch out world... this is some serious resurrection here.

The prednisone is for the cough which I full expect to lose completely today. Hallifuckinglooyah. Lessons learned. Next time, at the first sign of anything, I'm going in to see the doctor. No matter what. The end. It has been said that I won't suffer fools but from now on, I just won't suffer at all. You heard it here first.

Last night I turned on the A/C for the first time this year. We still have some cool nights but, if I turn it on when it's not yet hot, it stays ahead of the game and does not have to work as hard. And so we begin Summer here at SDHQ. As long as it's gone by Labor Day, I'm ok with it.

Sunday is supposed to be very hot and sunny and, of course, that's my first day Diamond seat game. Ordinarily, I would not even go outside on a day like that but... it's the Mariners and a Diamond seat so I'm planning now. I just looked up the stadium regs. I can take in empty bottles. So I will take my small spray bottle and fill it with water when I get there. And my thermos - ice water for it. And I have my wide brimmed sun hat. The main issue will be attitude. But, I have a few days left to fix that.

Today I need to fix my Mariner's shirt. Usually I wear it over a long or short sleeved t-shirt but Sunday will be too hot for two shirts so I need to modify it so it can fly solo. I also have a wallet cut out and ready to assemble and another swim suit. So there will be sewing. It feels so nice to have the energy to think about doing stuff. Oh and laundry. No one has done laundry in this house for way too long.

This worked out nicely

So my Mariners shirt is your basic Hawaiian shirt in this glorious Mariners fabric. I got it online about 10 years ago. I could button it across my generous ass but it was borderline tight and didn't look good.

Today I clipped an old navy sheet and added gussets to each side.

Worked just like I wanted! As you can see from that last photo, Zoey was not at all interested in this project.

My latest walking trick is to keep no lunch stuff in the house. So I'm off now to walk, get some heat training in and grab a sandwich from the place up the street.

A couple of years ago, someone left a wonderful little mid-century small table with two drawers in it down in the free area of the garage. I had no use/place for it but it was just too cute to pass up. So I figured I'd bring it upstairs and if I didn't want it, I could easily redonate.

Then I found a spot for it and realized it was perfect for my sewing machine. My sewing machine had been in storage for more than 20 years. I'd pull it out when I wanted to sew. But it was a major PIA so I rarely pulled it out at all. Now I could sew whenever I wanted on my new table.

And, I have, actually sewed quite a bit :)

About 6 months ago, I got wind (on Twitter?) of a sweet deal at Staples - a Dell laser printer for $100. It had great reviews and I could always take it back. I had/have a perfectly good inkjet printer but laser... So I got it. And it's fabulous. The inkjet is going to Goodwill on my next trip.

But, then, coincidentally, I discovered the joy of downloading PDF sewing patterns. They are 30-40 pages. You paste them together and, voila!, you have a pattern that is very easy to work with and use and reuse and I've even found a nice storage solution. I could have printed these suckers out on the inkjet but it would have taken more years than I have left and cost a fortune in ink.

Weird how random decisions/happenings turn into such critical puzzle pieces of joy.

My Fitbit is set to declare victory at 5,000 steps. I know 10,000 is better but I figure my swimming makes up for the other 5,000. Anyway, every day - usually about mid afternoon - the thing starts vibrating madly. It's the Fitbit You've Made Your Goal Dance Of Joy. And, it cracks me up, every single day.

My sewing machine has two flat head screws that have to be unscrewed to get in and do the cleaning that needs to happen once a week. I hate those damn screws with a passion. They are a bitch to get to and a bitch to screw and unscrew. This afternoon, I was trying and failing to get them back in when I just grabbed them up, stuck them in my pocked and went to Home Depot. There I found an exact match in flat philips head screws. 6 for $1.00 My little stubby screw driver sits in the cross pretty as you please and screws in and out so easily. Why the fuck do sewing machine people thing flat head screws are a good idea???

It was a hot Home Depot trip, though. Geesh. I haven't cooled off yet but I'm working on it.

I cut a new swim suit out of some fabric I bought on the cheap last March at the convention. It was in the grab bag pile. And now I know why. There are manufacturing stains (like dyes not oil) on it. Right at the boobs in the front. Probably no one would notice but I would. So I scrapped that one. BUT, I can use the pieces I cut out for the lining of another suit. Fancy damn lining but what the hay!

My ears are a little stopped up like pressure stopped up that no amount of swallowing or gum chewing seems to fix. But, I'm sure that will clear up soon. And, I also bet I'll sleep with no coughing tonight. YAHOOOOOOO!!
