Monday Monday

For the third night in a row, I slept straight through the night. No getting up to pee or get a drink of water. Not once. Very weird. I've always been a good sleeper. I fall asleep fast but, usually, wake up a couple of times in the night to pee or with a dry mouth so to drink some water. I woke up this morning at 3 but only to peek at the clock and then go right back to sleep til 5.

I'm losing my cozy envelope of darkness in the mornings. Now, when I leave the gym around 7ish, the daylight is beginning to peek out. Soon it will be daylight savings time and I'll get full sun going home which is a major PIA. Oh well. It's been lovely while it lasted.

The usuals were at the pool this morning. It's nice to see familiar faces every morning but, even nicer, to have a good feel for how and how long they will be swimming. Cuts down on necessary early morning thinking.

My house cleaner gave me a large orchid for Christmas. I am not an orchid fan and, outside of your most basic philodendron, I can't keep anything alive. But, since she's here every two weeks, I had to keep the thing and keep it prominently displayed. Last night it dropped it's final blossom. Yeah!! Now can at least cut the long straggly stem and move it to a shelf in the hallway where I don't have to look at it. I'm an ungrateful wretch. Well, not so true. I'm grateful the thing gave up all it's flowers :)

I have one errand to run this morning. I could stretch it out to more and take the car but I think I'll just walk up to Bartell's. It's not that far, just far enough to be a real walk rather than a pop around the corner. Maybe I'll wait until lunch time and pick up something while I'm out. That's a better plan.

Two television notes of interest. Bravo has a new show - The Imposters - which is really different and good. At least Episode 1 was. I love a good grifter tale. And Jeopardy is having one of its way-too-many stupid tournaments. So no Jeopardy for two weeks. I enjoy the Tournament of Champions but these niche tournaments are tedious. Get off my lawn.

I think I'll go make a doll. Here's the latest bear.

Will walk for poke...

I walked up to Bartell's and got the stuff I needed and then figured I'd walk home via Uwajimaya which wasn't that far out of the way and I needed more almond cookies. After procuring the cookies, I stopped by the take out counter to see if anything looked good. Same old, same old. Most of their take out stuff is just ok and expensive. Except, what was this? Uwajimaya has hopped onto the poke bandwagon... $10 for tuna bowl or salmon bowl. Ok, I'll give it a try... Tuna.

I got home at lunchtime so I pulled out some chopsticks and from bite one, I knew I'd found gold. Delish. I mean just perfect. Perfect seasonings, perfect veggies and perfect amount (not too much) and perfect rice (I like my poke rice cold). I could have eaten two bowls, I think.

I'm seeing a lot of walks over to Uwajimaya at lunch time. It's going to be costly. But, I get the steps in and it will be delicious. I'm thinking it will be $10 for a sure fire walk incentive.

Just after I finished the bowl, I saw on Twitter that Uwajimaya just kicked everyone out because of a power failure in the international district. Seattle City Light shit is just so not together. Turns out a lot of the neighborhoods closest to here had their power knocked out when a car hit a pole. But, I just got a text from Goodwill that they are now back in biz. Whew.

I got a lot of sewing room work done. A lot of cutting out of doll bits. Which always gets me in the back since my cutting out space is the wrong height. But now it's done so I'm free from cutting out for a while. I need to make some more faces. So I got the blanks all cut out and ready - maybe tomorrow.

Presto Change-o

So... Seattle City Light - apparently due to massive pressure from us victims - has changed their planned outage plans. Instead of Thursday, Feb 23rd from 9 am to 9 pm, they are going to be doing it on Sunday, March 5 from 4 pm to 4 am. MUCH more palatable. I canceled my AirBnB which I feel a little guilty about but at least it's more than a week out which isn't exactly last minute.

And I got into my Social Security account. My username is a fucked up mess because I must have been on drugs the day I set up the account. And of course, no way at all to change it. And the website has a 3 strikes you are out policy. Out in this case means you have to call them on the phone which is right up there with being water boarded in terms of fun times. So, I have written down the credentials in several places - security be damned. I did get the direct deposit move which is all I really wanted to do anyway.

Now I am going to listen to the very end of Liz Moore's The Unseen World. I only have 45 minutes left. I will miss the people in this story a great deal.
