All good things...

My brother is now at the airport waiting for his flight and I'm here in my living room. It was just a wonderful visit. I'm so grateful he came. We did a lot of stuff and a lot of nothing. We tried new places to eat and while all were not our favorites, some were and the others were worth the the try.

I've lived by myself for so long now that it's always fascinating to have someone else around - someone to supply casual feedback. I enjoy the comfort of having someone around to tell me whether or not my slip is showing... metaphorically speaking. But I probably enjoy it more because I have it so rarely.

Today will be a take it easy day. First up... turn the guest room back into a sewing room. And then laundry. And then I may well just spend the rest of the day knitting and watching TV. And listening to my latest book. I have another really good one going - Liz Moore's The Unseen World. She wrote one of my favorite books of all times - Heft - and then made me four years for another story!

Thank you, LJ!

I just discovered by accident that the 'new' (which is now pretty old) version of LJ has finally given me the option of full page width friends page!! For so long the /feed page required that all my content be stuffed into a narrow un-sizeable column. I liked all the other elements of the new style but that /feed page was killing my soul. So I kept going back to the old version.

Today I flipped to the new one to check something and lo and behold! my /feed page is now very readable!!

Man, ya stick with a thing long enough and you finally get it the way you want. Nice.

This discovery came on the heels of finally figuring out the best way to house my journal's archives. With fairly little effort I can make each year, with comments, photos and nice formatting, into one html page. Then I can slap an index page with links to all the years and boom. I've got a sweet little easy-to-access review of my life year by year since 2002. I've got 2 years done as a proof of concept. I'll be adding the other years here in the next or so and then do the index page.

Meanwhile, laundry load #2 of 3 is in the washer and #1 is in the dryer. The sewing room is mostly put back together. I'm waiting for the stuff to come out of the dryer. It's way more tidy than it was. Yeah for having company!

Now I think I'm going to reheat some of those wings from last night and see how the crispy fairs in leftovers.

Sunday night

I took some left over (potato starch) wings from the fridge and air fried them at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. They were just as good or maybe even better than yesterday. There will be much 'fried' chicken, beef and pork in my future.

On Friday, very serendipitously, I discovered a new news website and the timing could not be better. They strive for pithy clarity. And they appear to be very even handed. But, I think axios is a really weird and hard to remember name.

Every stitch of clothing and linens I own is either right now on my body or clean and put away. All dishes are washed and put away and the counters are clean and clear. The house is amazing tidy. The house cleaner comes on Wednesday and she's going to be very surprised.

Car2go tweeted that they have big news coming tomorrow. I so hope it's that they are adding bigger cars to their fleet. I'm so over Reach Now and I need cars that ride more than 2 people when my friends come from New Zealand this Summer.

I did not swim today or yesterday because the pool opens too late on weekends. I didn't want to cut into bro time. Tomorrow I go back and I am really ready. I miss it and my tracker thinks I died.

I've had the Front Door TV Network on a lot of the day and between it and when I've left the loft, I've seen no fewer than 8 Prime Now delivery people here making deliveries. No telling how many got by while I wasn't watching... It's a big day for Prime Now - at least here!

I finished this bear the other day but forgot to post his picture.
