What

Ok, I no longer think my itchy back is simply dry skin. It's just too persistent. It itches all the time. All. The. Time. The smelly antihistamine spray works for about 15-20 minutes. Ditto any of the lotions I've tried. Last night I took a non-drowsy allergy pill which didn't do much for the itch but man oh man did I sleep! I woke up once and went back to sleep immediately and that was it. I didn't even get up to pee.

Depending on the light, it looks like it might be a little reddish. Or not.

I'm madly trying to figure out what I might be doing differently, soap, water, clothes... Nothing is different. It would be horrible to find out it's the pool but I've been in that pool every day for five months. So why now?

This is making me a little nuts. I'm going to take my Japanese wash cloth and give my back a good soaping/scrubbing after my shower. Maybe it's 5 months accumulation of bromine.

After my swim, my day is clear. Nothing on the agenda. I do need to get out and walk.

The house cleaner is due on Wednesday for her once a month sprucing and it's just in time. This place is kind of a mess. I don't feel like I've been messier than usual but the house feels like it for sure. ugh.

Pool time now.

Itchy back installment

Could it be I just had a dirty back????  I soaped and scrubbed it down in the shower and it felt instantly better. And, now, an hour later, it still feels better. Better than it has in days. I wonder if the Cerave lotion did it? It was mildly itchy and I slatered that stuff on several times/days in a row. Then I stopped but I did not soap/scrub really well.  Hmmmm. OMG, I would be so happy if that was it. I was able to tell in the locker room light that there is definately red. Like mild sunburned red in a pattern that definately follows what I can get to with my lotion applicator stick.

It's such heaven to have relief. Heaven.

Swim was good. The woman who is there swimming 90% of the same time I am - Brody - told me today that last Thursday she did her swim early since they were going out of town. She said she got there at 5:05 am and their were 4 people already swimming and a sixth one joined just after she started her swim. Wild. The gym opens at 5 am on weekdays.

Ok, time to make some breakfast and feed this cat who isn't interetested in my writing any more of this entry.

Insurance rabbit hole

The good news is choices. The bad news is choices. Because I'm old in the United States, I get my medical expenses (most of them) taken care of my Medicare plus additional insurance.  The additional insurance, in my case, is paid for by Medicare (yeah, it's as confusing as it sounds) but in October and November, I can change to a different insurer.

My insurance company pisses me off a lot. So I thought maybe I'd change. I've kind of looked at options and weighed choices on and off over the past 6 weeks. Finally today, I took a deep dive into all the plans available and the pros and cons for me.

A lot are the same but... my current one will no longer provide Silver Sneakers. Silver Sneakers is what gets me into my swimming pool every day for free. So, BIG old minus there.

And some of the per visit/per drug/per etc. charges are different. None real killers and, if they hadn't pissed me off and/or deleted Silver Sneakers, I'd probably just fold and keep them. Easier to do.

But, I decided to switch. To a company that is here in the northwest and does not have other insurance. My current provider has about 579 different kinds of insurance and so it is difficult to maneuver through their telephone tree and other options. Also this new outfit has far more good options for getting drugs. I'm not that happy with Walgreens and should I decide to dump them, I need options.

I filled out the form online. It takes hold in January. I sure hope I didn't screw my own pooch on this.

So while I was at it, I updated the card I keep in my wallet of medications I'm on.

Yeah, I turned on the baseball game and got threw it all with that nice background and the Cubs are winning.

My back is definitely better. The skin is a little sore and there have been a couple of itchy periods but nothing as bad as yesterday. thankyoujeasus!
