One smart thing I did

Even before I had my first cataract removed last year, I made careful note of stuff I could and could not see so I could compare.

I couldn't read the TiVo screen blurbs. I couldn't see the clock at the pool.  I couldn't thread a needle even with magnifying glasses.

After my first one came out everything got significantly better but I still had to have glasses for most everything.

My doctor was not inclined to remove the second one. The only reason I could really get out of her was that it wasn't bad enough yet.  ???  I insisted and she did and wow.

I was threading a needle with ease this morning and remembering all my 'can I see this' tests.  I see it all now and more.  I can easily ascertain which end of the garbage bag is the sealed end and which one is the one that opens.  The clock and TiVo are no brainers now.  I took all the glasses, old, new, drugstore, prescription - all to the Goodwill ages ago.

It's great to be able to see everything but I think it's even better to have such a sharp comparison of then and now.  I'm so glad I didn't wait.  Both eyes together cost me about $1K out of pocket.  Had I waited another year and a half it would have cost me nothing. I'm so glad I didn't wait.

Today is swim class at noon which a short stop beforehand at Walgreens.  Nothing else really on the schedule.  Bears and baseball.
