Giving me the finger

My finger was driving me nuts this morning. For several weeks the joint has been sore,  This is my index finger on my right hand (and I'm right handed) and the joint closest to the tip.  This morning the tip of it hurt, too. So typing hurt and I kept hitting it on stuff.  After swimming I pulled into walgreens and bought a finger kit. It has a wrap thing that can be frozen or heated and one of those bendable metal sprints.

Typing is not as easy as you might think when you are wearing a splint on your finger.  I'm generally a 10 finger touch typist,  Not today.  I don't know how long this is going to last.  I can't knit with it so it won't be long.

The pool was great.  We had a new teacher today who was pretty good.  He's going to be teaching this class for the rest of the summer.

I headed out this morning to find wire hangers to buy and stopped at Home Depot instead and found a very viable substitute for $4.  Project completed very nicely, thanks.

Still no hangers but for now, no need.

I've had a little work today but not much.  Next week promises to be a full work week so I'm cool with the down time. I think I'll go down and get the mail.  That's one thing I *can* do with my finger in a splint.

I'm interested in how the finger guard works out since I'm having similar problems.

Will do. And first report is good. I put it on at noon. I just took it off (4:30) and my finger feels way better. Not perfect but way better than it did at noon. I'll put it back on later and sleep with it on. Oh and I will ice it again a couple of times before bed.

Oh and for absolute sure, knitting with it on is impossible.

Interesting you have the same - only one finger, only one joint?

The end joint of my right index finger has been a bit swollen for quite a few months. Recently the inside is become a bit swollen and sensitive. I just looked it up and it is the distal interfalangeal joint. I have a bit of this on my left index finger also. It is really hard to not use that finger in activities that put pressure on it such as opening jars or pulling out weeds. There is no problem typing. Someday I may have to reprogram my mouse to reverse the meaning of the left and right buttons. I also have some A Dupuytren's contracture; it's been there for many years and seems pretty stable.

wow. Interesting that you have the same symptoms in the same joint. it must be tied to brilliance... or beauty.

One thing the splint does do is remind me not to use the finger for stuff like opening jars or cutting with knife/fork to eat. To make adjustments.

I wonder if I could train my hand to the mouse reversedly? Hmmmm

I'm wondering what the project was that you needed the wire hangers for?

I have a tray that I wanted to suspend over a drawer.

Awww, yes . . . okay. Well you teased me with thoughts of a creation a few days ago and I wondered what you were up to. I'll try to visualize what it looks like. :))
