Weird Day

  • Jul. 3rd, 2009 at 8:00 AM
It's not the 4th of July holiday. But a lot of people are taking today off as if it is. But, it's not. So places are closed or not but who knows? Mail will be delivered today but not tomorrow. Busses are on holiday schedule today but regular schedule tomorrow. The stock market is closed both days. It's a confusing mess. Poor planing. They move holidays all the time in this country. They need to move the 4th. Next year is not going to be much better.

In my parking lot (or rather Qwest Field's) is a giant blow up thingie. It's the size of about 6 double wide house trailers (no shit) - It's a movie promo. http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/christmascaroltraintour/
Other than seeing the thing from my terrace, I have seen not one tiny other bit of advertisement/PR or even mention of the thing. Very strange.

Tomorrow is a giant, huge soccer game USA vs. Grenada. The lot's going to be hoppin'.

The weather people are promising a scorching couple of days. I'm going over to the gym this morning at 10. Tomorrow the gym is closed. I might just do another bus across town and walk back thing. If it's too hot, then I'll just get back on a bus and come hope.

Otherwise I'll be right here happily with my air conditioner.

My brother has been keeping me appraised of my sister-in-law's progress after her gastric bypass surgery on Wednesday. She's progressing well and he just sent a txt that the hospital is kicking them out and she can go home. Very excellent. I know the dogs will be happy.

It's a head!! Hard to tell now but it will be easier to tell it's a bear when it gets ears... and a face... and a body and legs and arms...

Gym Report - cardio

What a mish mash... I did 10 minutes on the treadmill and then 15 minutes on the bike (the no back one). I was going for 20 but Rosie came by and asked me if I had been on the rowing machine lately and suggested that I not ignore it. So I got off the bike at 15 intending to do 5 on the rowing machine. Then I remembered why I hadn't been on it. I hate it. So I did 3 minutes. Yea, I owe the gym 2 mins so sue me.

Nadia was there and I asked her if I could switch my 1 hour every 2 weeks to 2 half hour sessions. I think I'm going to try a half hour every week. Two half hour sessions a week, I think, is too expensive. But I'm going to ask her for pricing so I can see for sure.

She said she was cool with half hours. I need to get back into a rut. A regular don't-have-to-think about it schedule. I will. But right now, I need to get into the shower and then stand in front of the fan to dry off. It is hot in here.
This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. Plug in a search term and it finds all of the images sent via twitter that match the term.

It gives the most wonderful collage of Seattle.

Christmas in July

[info]machupicchu came down to my end of town after work and we went through the movie exhibit. It was pretty interesting... mainly interesting that they are throwing so much money at it with zero coverage. I was dying to ask the few people there how they even heard about it. The blow up house seats about 120 and there were maybe 40 or fewer folks in it with us. Matthew got some nice pictures of the movie promo thing.

This one is the best - that's my condo in the back there... actually, my particular unit is about two to the left of there at the top far left of the picture...

Just so you know...

I'm watching the Red Sox/Mariner game. [info]jwg and [info]rsc say they are there but so far I have not seen them. I will report in if that situation changes...

My neighbor, Ann, from down the hall made avocado bisque for dinner and just brought me the leftovers. I cannot wait for lunch tomorrow!!
